Paraprofessional

 

Under the direct supervision of an assigned Special Education Techer and/or Special Education Director/Principal, the Special Education Paraprofessional will assist with supervision and instructional activities (including but not limited to the development of academic, social, and independence/self-care skills) as related to the identified needs of students with individualized education programs (IEPs) within the Developmental Learning Center classroom.  

 

Half of the school day may be spent 1:1 with a student.

 

This position is distinguished from the certified teaching staff by accreditation requirements and performance of duties not requiring lesson planning, diagnosing, and prescribing or evaluating student progress.

Minimum Qualifications

 

Paraprofessional must fulfill one of the three following requirements:

 

  1. Complete at least two years of study at an institutional of higher education; or
  2. Obtain an associate (or higher) degree; or
  3. Pass ETS paraprofessional assessment 

Applicant is required to be SafetyCare trained as soon as possible following hiring.
