JOB OPENING: Assistant Principal
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To serve as an instructional leader working directly with teachers,
students and parents.
SALARY RANGE: $125,418 - $136,958 for 210 days per year
RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal
CLOSING DATE: April 25, 2025 or when filled
MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will include the following responsibilities:
- Support and implement the vision for learning as set by the superintendent and school principal
- Conduct evaluations for certificated teachers, classified paraprofessionals, and other staff members as assigned the principal
- Facilitate the safety program for the school and district
- Primarily manage student discipline
- Manage and participate in the data analysis through cycles of inquiry with instructional staff
- Actively participate with the Mutli-Tiered System of Support team
- Supervise after school activities and/or field trips as needed
- Coordinate assessment activities as the District’s Assessment Coordinator (EG WaKIDS, WA-AIM, SBA, WCAS, etc.)
- Support student attendance as the primary attendance coordinator
- Coordinate student recognition activities such as Student of the Month assemblies (K-2) and other school-wide positive behavior reinforcements
- Responsible for state observation days (Constitution, Veteran’s and Good Citizenship)
- Plan, organize, facilitate, and deliver professional development along with other administrators
- Other duties as assigned
Applicant must be enthusiastically committed to raising student achievement and capable of communication. In addition to being able to relate to students of varying socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, the applicant must have good management skills. The applicant must be able to use a variety of instructional and assessment strategies to enhance learning and have the interpersonal skills necessary to work creatively and cooperatively with parents and with other staff members in teaming situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Credentials - Washington State Principal’s Credential
- Education - Master’s Degree or Higher
- Personal Qualities - Must be responsible, accountable, and able to communicate with students, parents, and staff.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) - Preferred, but not required
- Danielson Framework Trained - Preferred, but not required
CLEARANCES: Fingerprint/Background Check
CONTINUING EDUCATION/TRAINING: Maintenance of a valid certificate as required for position
